Join LWVMD for a special conversation with award-winning author Elaine Weiss (The Woman's Hour), as she discusses her new book: Spell Freedom: The Underground Schools that Built the Civil Rights Movement.
Spell Freedom reveals how “Citizenship Schools” in the 1950s helped Black Americans fight Jim Crow voter suppression and build the Civil Rights Movement.
This virtual event will be moderated by Dr. Karsonya Whitehead — noted scholar, award-winning radio host, and founder of the Karson Institute for Race, Peace & Social Justice at Loyola University Maryland.
